Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend the 12th annual Beyond the Baby Blues conference presented by NAMI Minnesota. Springtime is a difficult season on the emotions, and this aligns with the liver energy in the body becoming activated. The liver is an emotional powerhouse in the body and easily gets stuck in its movement, causing anger, irritation, and depression. It was wonderful to experience mental health education amongst therapists and continue to grow my capacity to help all of my pregnant and postpartum mamas coming through the Pure Point doors. Are you feeling that liver qi? It's okay to ask for help and support.
Please join us for our first yoga series at Pure Point Acupuncture in our Minneapolis location. This is a four week series with a special focus on yoga for stress reduction and management, grounding, balancing, fertility. The following is Marina’s description of this lovely class:

So many of my patients come to me in panic, their body is panicked, and their minds are panicked. No matter what your body and mind are feeling, there is one aspect of yourself that always knows the truth: your spirit. When your mind is racing it is hard to hear and feel the stable and knowing aspects of your being. I like to do exercises like the one described below for my patients during their acupuncture treatments to start to cultivate a sense of peace, knowing, and trust in their path and healing. You can try this simple exercise to calm the voices in your head and the tightness in your body. When these become quiet, you can find your truth and tap into the consciousness of the universe.
First, find a quiet spot away from other people. You can sit, lay down, or stand. Close your eyes and bring your attention to your feet. Pick a color of light and envision your feet slowly filling with this color of light, inside and around them. Feel your feet start to tingle as you envision roots growing from the bottoms of your feet into the soil of the earth. You are now grounding and stabilizing your body. Next, take the color of light and pour it down from above your head, allowing the light to drain all negativity, hurt, and unhealthy energy down your body, through the roots, and into the earth. The earth will take care of this energy for you. Enjoy this feeling of grounding and lightness. Feel suspended in the universe of your being. Feel safe and cared for by the spirit of the universe. Know that you are enough and you have everything you need in the home of your body. If you are doing this exercise for fertility, you can now ask for you baby spirit help you feel its presence. You can say something like "please help me feel where you are resting in my aura or on my body". It can happen right away or take a few minutes, but you will feel a pressure or have a sensation or feeling on an area of your body. The first spot you notice is correct, be confident not to judge or question your intuition. When you ask questions in a grounded space you are able to feel your truth.
You have a lot of options when it comes to choosing an acupuncturist, but how do you choose? I encourage you to ask yourself- what are you looking for in an acupuncture experience? What aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine speak to you? Is it the foods and herbs? The energy and qi? Have you have been reading research studies about the physical benefits to uterine blood flow and hormones? Has your doctor recommended you add acupuncture to enhance your fertility treatments? Have you been hearing about spleens and kidneys and liver qi and are intrigued to learn your Traditional Chinese Medicine constitutional pattern?
So what is the Pure Point experience like? It's warm and comforting. You feel cared for and supported with plenty of personal one-on-one time. The space does not feel like a doctor's office, so you can work on your fertility without being triggered and reminded of a medical clinic. The space is a comfortable sanctuary of peace with s small neighborhood vibe. There are pillows, beautiful rugs, and painted wood floors. There are soft colors, velvet curtains, and flowing fabric ceilings. The rooms are cozy and sweet and one is even affectionately called the "womb room". You can feel the authentic work we do when you walk in the door and take a breath, and you leave feeling renewed. Patients describe Pure Point Acupuncture treatments as the perfect mix of connecting with a friend, a hint of therapy, a relaxing body treatment, and restful meditation.
What is my style? I am a listener. I am a connector. I work intuitively and study the connections between the spirit world and the physical world. I believe in signs and I believe in timing. I have been doing this for a long time, eleven years and counting. I've lived through terrible menstrual cramps, infertility, bedrest, and C-sections and I understand first hand the the struggles, conflicting emotions, and loneliness of this difficult path. I am a gentle acupuncturist and get great results without pain and deep needles. I am honest. Some women get pregnant their very first cycle of acupuncture and some take several months. I am a trained herbalist, but I'm not pushy and I respect boundaries. If you don't want herbs, that's fine! We will talk about diet and foods you can choose that can help your body. You can speak your truth with me and I will not judge. You can laugh and cry and I will be right there doing the same.
The first round of the women's new moon circle is coming up very quickly! Herbalist Shyla Earl is hosting this lovely event. The following are a few of her details. If you are interested in joining, you can contact her here.
The 'circle" is a group of women who meet monthly on the new moon to hold space for one another to explore the divine feminine, share story, set intention, and support each other.
Each meeting is a creation of safe and sacred space held by collective intention to grow, support, and honor one another in our individual and collective journeys toward authentic self hood and whole health.
Shyla will provide tools, rituals, ceremony, and open and close the space at each meeting, but it is up to all of us to show up and be present for ourselves and our sisters. As a way to encourage and empower you, please consider assisting in leading a meeting.
To maintain structure and simultaneously create space for flexibility, we will meet in cycles of three moons so women may leave or join the circle while honoring the contract of sacred space within the frame of three moons.
We hope to have you join us for this precious and timely experience!
