Have you wondered why your acupuncturist wants you to come in for a treatment every single week? So much is happening with your reproductive hormones every day and we need to support what is going on at your current stage, but also prepare for the next hormone shift. Lets break this down:
First Stage (Follicular): Your period has ended and you are waiting to ovulate. What are we doing? We are nourishing the qi and blood to start replenishing your lost uterine lining and boosting hormones for growth of a fabulous healthy follicle. Second Stage (Ovulation): Ovulation time! What are we doing? We are supporting a big surge of hormones to make a strong and healthy ovulation and also preventing stagnation of qi and blood (ever experience ovarian cysts or painful ovulation? You know what this stagnation feels like!) We are also opening important meridians in the body needed to receive a beautiful baby spirit. Third Stage (Luteal): Implantation and the dreaded two week wait (TWW). What are we doing? We are creating a calm and nourished uterine environment so implantation can occur and pregnancy can hold. This involves nourishing your blood and calming your mind as you do your best not to symptom spot ;) Be sure to stay away from icy cold foods and drinks during this time so the organs don't contract from cold. Fourth Stage (Menstrual): Pregnancy or Period? Positive Pregnancy test? Great! We switch our treatments to nourishing baby and mama. Period? It's Okay! We focus on helping the uterus clear the blood, move stuck qi, calm menstrual cramps, and give the uterus a fresh chance to start over. We work hard all month and get one once chance to see our results each cycle. It's a process that is often unwinding years of trouble, so don't get discouraged if it takes a little time and know that each cycle is getting healthier and healthier. Head on over to the fertility page to learn more details about the process and send me an email any time! Comments are closed.
