Nature provides a variety of plants that offer us everything we need for health and wellness. Humans have used the plants around them as food and medicine since the beginning of time, and we continue to use these amazing plants today to support our whole health. Our bodies are intelligent and posses the innate ability to heal themselves. However, we occasionally get stuck in unhealthy patterns or cycles, especially within the context of our busy, modern lifestyles. Through a personalized and holistic framework, herbalists assess the discordant patterns and imbalances of our lives and match them to plant preparations that nudge the mind, body, and spirit back into a state of balance. Whether you are experiencing a chronic or an acute condition, have an array of concerns or simply wish to feel more balanced, herbs can help. Herbalism is safe and effective, and can be used at any stage of life; during pregnancy, with infants and children, in our adulthood and through our wisdom years. Herbs are usually intended for short term use, as they treat the root cause of our imbalances rather than simply mask symptoms (which are our bodies' way of communicating to us that something is out of balance). Herbs are effective on their own, but can also be used in conjunction with other forms of complementary and integrative therapies, conventional medicine, and pharmaceuticals.
Herbalism is useful for a variety of health concerns, including:
- Cramps, PMS, infertility, and other women's health concerns during pregnancy, postpartum, and throughout menopause
- Skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema, acne, boils, hives and rashes
- Headaches, migraines and brain fog
- Mental health concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, obsessive thinking and insomnia
- Allergies and sinus problems
- Digestive issues including IBS, constipation, diarrhea, nausea & acid reflux
- Acute care for strains, sprains, breaks, infections, fevers, colds, burns, wounds, injuries and almost anything else you can think of!
- Musculoskeletal and neurological issues
I’ve struggled for years with chronic fatigue and pain. Meeting Shyla has been such a blessing on my healing journey. I am so thankful for her kindness and wisdom, and I really appreciate how deeply she listens to me and how clearly she sees me. Her support and encouragement is medicine in itself. ~M
Introduced to herbalism as an adolescent, Shyla continues to nurture her relationship with plants by sharing her passion with students, educating clients, and connecting with herbal enthusiasts. Her history as a body modification artist, women’s reproductive health care assistant, birth doula, academic, sustainable farmer and all-around plant lover inform her unique knowledge of plants, humans, and health. In 2010, Shyla returned to Minnesota and began a modest herbal practice which blossomed in 2014 after studying and apprenticing under Lise Wolff, RH (AHG). Seeking avenues to further develop her herbal practice, Shyla obtained a Master’s degree in Holistic Health Studies (MAHS) from St. Catherine University in 2017. She currently manages Jewelweed Holistic Health & Wellness Boutique in Wayzata, MN where she works as an herbalist, teaches herbal classes, and offers private herbal consultations.
What to Expect During Your Consultation
As a holistic practitioner, Shyla views each client as a unique individual, therefore, during your initial consultation you will discuss your holistic health history and current health concerns with her. Remedies range from
tinctures to teas to flower essences and/or nutrition and lifestyle suggestions. Following your consultation you will receive oral instructions on how to use your remedies along with an instruction sheet to take with you.

Before working with Shyla my anxiety was so bad that I didn’t know if I would graduate. I couldn’t attend classes, I couldn’t finish my work, and I always felt panicked. The herbs Shyla gave me changed everything! I’m on track to graduate in the spring and I even got a job. Now that I have tools to manage my anxiety life feels less overwhelming. ~K
My favorite part of consulting with Shyla is when she places herbal drops on my arm to find the right remedy and dose for me. I definitely know my tinctures are intended for me and not just a one-size-fits-all approach. ~A
A friend referred me to Shyla for my digestive issues. I didn’t know what to expect, and was a little skeptical, but after talking with Shyla and watching her process I felt confident trying her suggestions. I’m so glad I did because not only does my body feel better, but I have more energy and my mood has improved too!~L
